GURNING CHAMPIONSHIP

You must have been wondering what is going on with them. Are they losing their mind? Or boredom strikes until they decided to do something stupid?

The answer is totally NO! Actually, they're entering a competition called World Gurning Championship. This bizarre event or competition is located at Egremont, United Kingdom. Gurning contests are a rural English tradition. The World Gurning Championship annually attracts about 50 contestants in the men’s, women’s, and children’s sections, who wish to participate by putting their heads through a horse collar and making an ugly face. This event is part of the Egremont Crab Fair, which became recognized in the 19th century and currently features a number of sporting events, a pipe smoking event, greasy pole climbing, and of course the highlight of the fair, the World Gurning Championship. Visitors who wish to attend the event must make their way to Cumbria, England on the third Saturday of September. Those with the greatest gurn capabilities are often those with no teeth, as this provides greater room to move the jaw further up. In some cases, the elderly or otherwise toothless can be capable of spectacular gurns covering the entire nose. Some of the participants are even able to removes their entire teeth just to look horrible and win the competition.
